Calling all my fellow shoeholics!

You can’t possibly talk about fashion and not talk about most women’s fetish – shoes!!

Pumps, flats, sandals, stilettos, boots in varying lengths........they come in all different shapes, colours, types and sizes. There’s something for everyone.

Personally, I don’t do flats. Maybe because when I wear them I’m often mistaken for an adolescent due to my being vertically challenged, or maybe due to the trauma of having been told as a teenager that in flat shoes I walk like a duck! Either way, my idea of a flat shoe is a wedge, I refuse to go any flatter! Stilettos are my friend. I have been known to party for hours in 6 inch heels......I’ll probably pay for it some day!

Can you even begin to imagine how jazzed I was when I heard there was a new shoe collection coming out?!
South African designer David Thale had teamed up with Luella Shoes to bring out a limited edition that launched in South Africa in December 2009. It took me a while to get me some but......

Ladies, feast your eyes........

I have since spent ages looking around for an African designer to meet my stiletto need and honestly, not much seemed to be forthcoming.

Then I chanced upon these and my heart sang!
They are exactly what a Fashion Sista would want in her wardrobe! Fun, flirty with a distinctly African, Ankara vibe.
Not surprising as they are the brainchild of Ghanaian Designer Akua Serwaa-Sarfo. The collection name is IyZaiah .

To be honest, after that, my search didn’t yield much more that gave me a genuine thrill. I am, however, open to correction, so if you know any fabulous African shoe designers out there, then please let me know who they are – I’d love to take a look. I’ve mentioned other African designers in previous posts which is why I didn’t bring them up again. Looking for fresh blood, people!

Don’t forget to head to Afrawear.com to find just the outfits to best showcase those great shoes or to use as inspiration to head out and get more shoes!

See you soon!
